Dear Essex Elementary School Families,

I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to all within our community and thank you for visiting our webpage!  It is a great privilege to serve the Essex community as principal of Essex Elementary School. We are the only school in the Town of Essex, Connecticut and we serve approximately 315 students from kindergarten through grade six. In addition, we house the Region 4 Collaborative Preschool for the towns of Chester, Deep River and Essex. 

We provide comprehensive, rigorous and relevant educational experiences for our students in all academic content areas incorporating the integration of technology, critical and creative problem solving, and inquiry based learning aligned to the Common Core State Standards to ensure all students develop the skills necessary to succeed.  In addition to our core academic subjects of Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies our students also attend classes in Physical Education, Art, Music, Spanish, and Library Media.  

In a continued effort to develop the “whole child”, we are extremely fortunate to have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), as well as, the support of the Essex Elementary Foundation, both of which provide our students and school community with a wide variety of enrichment experiences and opportunities.  Our PTO runs our book fairs, Cultural Arts programs, Harvest Fair, Birthday Book Program, and helps to fund various field trips for our children.  The Foundation also provides cultural experiences for our students, hosts award winning authors, funds some after school enrichment programs including the very popular Engineering with Legos, and various other programs throughout the school year. We are very appreciative to both the PTO and the Foundation for collaborating closely with us in providing our students with these experiences.

I am thankful to the EES staff, families, the Town of Essex, and to our Board of Education for supporting the educational journey of our students.  Together we create amazing experiences and opportunities for our children in an environment that is supportive in helping all to grow and succeed.
